The Network of Academic Solidarity and Engagement (MASA) organized on 17.11.2022. in Niš, the third consecutive round table on the topic of professional integrity in the academic community. The participants were Prof. Dr. Danijela Stošić Panić, prof. Dr. Vladimir Hedrih, prof. Dr. Staniša Stojiljković, prof. Dr. Dalibor Petrović, prof. Dr. Dušan Pavlović.
The first part presents the results of the MASE survey on academic integrity, followed by a research study on academic plagiarism in Serbia. Participants evaluated ethical practices at universities in Serbia in the last 10 years. A discussion on institutional reforms was also initiated.
The participants agreed that the institutional reform should be directed towards establishing a permanent employment relationship for the assistant professor level, improving the conditions for selection into higher academic titles, the need for decisions for selection into titles to be explained, and simplifying the procedures for determining non-academic behavior.
During the coming months, MASA will continue to organize round tables with the same topic in other university centers in Serbia.
